Turquoise Money Clip Navajo

This Money Clip was made by Navajo Artist Cecil Atencio, bio below. The Turquoise Stone is a dark ocean blue with a light to dark gold matrix and a hint of white. The stone sets in a smooth bezel and is surrounded by twisted silver roping.

Weight: 27 grams on my scale
The clip measures 1 3/4” by 1”.
The stone is 1/2” wide by 1 1/8” long.

Cecil Atencio

Cecil Atencio was born on the Navajo reservation at Kimbeto, NM. In June 1956 to Nina and Chee Atencio. Cecil's sister Esther and her husband Alfred Largo taught him the art of Silversmithing and told Cecil that no mater what happened in his life he could always fall back on Silversmithing.

Cecil has been a Silversmith for almost 30 years and is known for his large pieces like this Concho belt. He currently lives on the Navajo reservation at To'Hajiilee', New Mexico with his wife Mae and two children Carmelita and Ephraim, also his two grandchildren Louis and Alliana Atencio.
