Description

This Santo Domingo ankle bracelet is 9 1/2" long, end to end. It was made by Artist Delphata Calabaza. It has a beautiful design. I think if you had a good sized wrist this could also be a regular bracelet. It features heishi of blue turquoise, black jet, peachy melon shell and reddish brown pipestone.

Wight: about 6 grams on my scale
The heishi pieces graduate in size from about 1/8" to 3/16". I placed a quarter there for scale.

The literal meaning of heishi is "shell" and specifically refers to pieces of shell which have been drilled and ground into beads and then strung into necklaces. more information on this fascinating subject can be found on the internet
