Description

Vintage Bell Thunderbird Nickel Silver Pendant

This is a large old Bell Trading Post Thunderbird Pendant. It has blue looking stones as well as nice silver detailing on the silver.

Weight : 13.5 grams on my scale.
It’s marked Nickel Silver and hallmarked with the old Bell Signpost. It measures, including the rigid bail, 2 7/8” tall by 1 3/4” at it’s widest point. I placed a quarter there for scale.

Please note : on a lot of the old tourist jewelry they used compressed or composite turquoise

Bell Trading Post of Albuquerque, NM was founded in 1935 by Jack Michelson and named after his wife, Mildred Bell. It was in business from 1935 through the late 1980s. They sold Indian souvenir & tourist jewelry , reminiscent of the Harvey Ear, throughout the western U.S. A lot of their designs included thunderbirds, rain clouds and bows & arrows, easily recognized by tourists. In 1972, their name was changed to Sunbell Corp.

I'm very much a fan of Vintage Native American Jewelry. This jewelry has not been cleaned and will not be perfect. There's a certain amount of wear on older pieces which is to be expected and I always wonder what stories they'd have to tell in their travels through time. Some pieces are unmarked as to artist and silver content. What you see is what you get!

Sure to make a Fine addition to any collection, or a great gift! Please note: Pictures are enlarged to show detail, remember everything looks bigger on line :)
