Description
Big Kingman Turquoise Ring sz 10.5
This Big, simply fabulous ring was Hand Crafted by Navajo Artist Al Charley. He's a new artist to me and I love his work, very classic with that traditional Navajo silversmithing. I hope to have a bio soon. It's a size 10 1/2. Wear it on your middle finger, this one's worth it. It has a smooth, very polished, stabilized Kingman Turquoise stone that is a brilliant dark blue with an outstanding dark gold, almost red matrix. The blue is a bit darker than it looks in the pictures. I think Stabilized Kingman is among the most beautiful turquoise, it's very hard and will never lose it's color. The stone sets in a scalloped bezel and is surrounded by twisted silver wire in the classic rope design. It has a great looking border.
Weight: 22.5 grams on my scale It's marked sterling and Hallmarked. It measures almost 1 1/2" tall by 1 1/8" at it's widest point.
It has a really sturdy split shank band with stamp work designs. I placed a quarter there for scale.
Sure to make a Fine addition to any collection, or a great gift! Please note: Pictures are enlarged to show detail, remember everything looks bigger on line :)
Kingman Turquoise
The Kingman mine in northwestern Arizona was one of the largest turquoise mines in North America. The terms "Kingman" or "high blue" refer to the blue color usually displayed in this stone. It has become a color standard in the industry. The mine became famous for its rounded, bright blue nuggets with black matrix. Natural Kingman is highly collectible. Some of the finest specimens of Kingman were mined in the 1960’s. This was an intense blue with a black and silver matrix.
