This ring has a great shape and was created by Navajo Artist Lyle Piaso. It's a size 9.
It features an fabulous Emerald Valley Turquoise Stone. The stone has bright light to dark, I'd say, spring to mossy greens.
There's very little of this stone available and I can't get it on a regular basis.
It's marked sterling and signed
It's 7/8" tall by 3/4" at it's widest point.
weight: 8 grams on my scale
I placed a quarter there for scale.
Emerald Valley Turquoise
The brilliant green turquoise known as Emerald Valley is found in two locations.
One source is in Nevada and the other in China. While I don't know for certain
which mine produces the stone, I do know that the stones are processed into
cabochons in the US.
Emerald Valley is a good medium to high grade turquoise and is not common in
the US. The color is typically a variety of green with some brown matrix.
Lyle is a third generation Navajo silversmith, originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He attended Chinle High School in Chinle, Arizona. He went on to attend the Community College in Tsaile, Arizona. After earning his degree in accounting, Lyle moved back to Albuquerque. Upon returning to New Mexico, Lyle began to silversmith along side his father Joe Piaso Jr., who has continued to inspire him over the years.
