This is an absolutely stunning Navajo made Naja pendant. It's a big hefty piece with 12 very
blue turquoise stones as well as 7 wonderful pieces of red coral- Each stone
sets in a serrated bezel. It has a large rigid bail with stamp work. Classic.
It's marked 925 and signed RB inside a bear
It measures 2 1/4" tall, by 2 1/4" wide.
Pendant weight: 33.4 grams on my scale
I placed a quarter there for scale.
The "naja" and the squash blossom bead was introduced to the Navajo by the Spanish and later adopted by the Zuni. The crescent shaped Naja is similar to the pendants that hung from the headstalls of the Spanish silver bridles in the late 1500s and early 1600s.
Sure to make a Fine addition to any collection, or a great gift!
