This Huge pendant was handcrafted by Navajo Artist and Silversmith Joe Piaso Jr.
The simply fabulous Kingman Turquoise stone is a bright mottled blue with gold and beige.
The stone is surrounded by twisted silver wire with fine stamp work around the border.
It comes with a wonderful 17" strand of bright sterling silver desert pearls.
And of course the bead
necklace can be used with other pendants.
It's marked 925, signed and hallmarked
It's 17/8" tall, plus 1/2" bail, by 1 5/8" at it's widest point.
Pendant weight: 30 grams on my scale
I placed a quarter there for scale.
The Kingman mine in northwestern Arizona was one of the largest
turquoise mines in North America. The terms "Kingman" or "high blue"
refer to the blue color usually displayed in this stone. It has become a
color standard in the industry. The mine became famous for its rounded,
bright blue nuggets with black matrix. Natural Kingman is highly
collectible. Some of the finest specimens of Kingman were mined in the
1960’s. This was an intense blue with a black and silver matrix.
Sure to make a Fine addition to any collection, or a great gift!
