This size 8 ring has a great shape and was created by Navajo Artist Lyle Piaso.
The Turquoise Mountain turquoise stone is a paler bright blue with a delicate dark gold/brown matrix.
I love the border being etched like that. It has a wide sturdy split shank band with a bit of stamp work.
Lyle is a third generation Navajo silversmith, originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He attended Chinle High School in Chinle, Arizona. He went on to attend the Community College in Tsaile, Arizona. After earning his degree in accounting, Lyle moved back to Albuquerque. Upon returning to New Mexico, Lyle began to silversmith along side his father Joe Piaso Jr., who has continued to inspire him over the years.
It's marked sterling and signed
It's 1" tall by 7/8" at it's widest point.
weight: 9.6 grams on my scale
I placed a quarter there for scale.
Turquoise Mountain Turquoise and "Birdseye" Turquoise
Turquoise Mountain and "Birdseye" turquoise come from the same mine in northwestern Arizona near the Kingman mine. The mine was closed in the 1980s. It is light to high blue, with both webbed and non-webbed matrix. "Birdseye" describes stones from this mine that show areas of light blue circled with dark blue matrix, resembling the eye of a bird. It is a beautiful addition to one's collection.
Sure to make a Fine addition to any collection, or a great gift!
