This BIG hefty Naja pendant was created by Navajo artist Shawn Cayatineto. It's an Old Style
looking pendant with deep blue turquoise nuggets as well as deep set stamp work, very detailed.
There's stamp work on the large round bail as well. The silver has a dark satin sheen.
The "naja" and the squash blossom bead was introduced to the Navajo
by the Spanish and later adopted by the Zuni. The crescent shaped Naja
is similar to the pendants that hung from the headstalls of the Spanish
silver bridles in the late 1500s and early 1600
It's marked sterling and signed sC
It measures 3 3/4" tall, plus the large 3/4" bail, by 3" at it's widest point.
Weight: 59.6 grams on my scale
I placed a quarter there for scale.
Sure to make a Fine addition to any collection, or a great gift!
