This fabulous piece was created by Kewa (Santo Domingo) artist Kevin Garcia.
The large clam shell has inlays of shimmery mother of pearl and deep black jet. There's also another
mosaic stone inlay that looks like wild horse stone, but I have no idea. The 24" reddish brown pipestone Heishi
necklace is a perfect match to the clam shell.
The literal meaning of heishi is shell and specifically refers to pieces of shell
which have been drilled and ground into beads and then strung into necklaces.
The shell pendant is 2 7/8 " tall by 1 1/12" at it's widest point.
Total weight: about 64 grams on my scale.
I placed a quarter there for scale.
Please note: Pictures are enlarged to show detail, remember everything looks bigger on line :)
